I do system administration for companies who need part-time
but not a full-time system administrator. I also rescue
companies when the full-time system administrator makes a
mistake.
Business clients include dentists, real estate agents, and
accountants. Have worked for the North Marin Water
District(NMWD) and the Novato Chamber of Commerce.
A Comcast technician, until he transferred to another part
of the Bay Area, recommended me to home owners that needed
multiple computers, both Macs and PCs connected to the
Internet. I have installed wireless, ethernet over
powerline, and wired networks.
Have created VPNs using SonicWall equipment.
Have used Microsoft Remote Desktop to log into XP machines
from a Mac or from a PC. Also used other remote software
such as VNC, Timbuktu, ssh, ftp, Apple Remote Desktop
(ARD).
Since 1999 I have serviced over 250 different clients.
January 2004, January 2005, and January 2006 Chosen by
Apple to answer questions at the Apple Consultants booth at
the San Francisco MacWorld conference.
January 2000 - March 2001 Founded, organized and ran the
Golden Gate Computer Linux Sig. Usually I was also the main
speaker of these monthly meetings.
March 2000 - June 2000. Taught one class for high school
sophomores, juniors and seniors, Tuesday thru Friday in C
Programming at Marin Catholic High School. Initially, the
class used the Symantec Mac compiler. I then installed the
Mac Code Warrior compiler. Later, I installed a Linux
server on their network. The students then telneted into
the server from Macs and ran gcc. The final assignment was
to work in a team and create a game.
